Ringo Starr's granddaughter launches exhibition
BBCThe granddaughter of The Beatles drummer Ringo Starr is putting on an art exhibition in Surrey.
Tatia Starkey told BBC Radio Surrey she wanted to communicate whatever was inside herself to "expel it".
"I'm just trying to share with people the feeling of love, the lack of love, different expressions that we have and the very high points in life," she said.
The collection, titled Invert, sees Starkey use her body to paint canvases.
James Thompson, who owns the gallery, said Starkey's artwork was "very different" from what he has exhibited before.
He described her as "wonderful, creative [and] expressive".
As he gets approached by "multiple artists per week", Thompson said it "definitely helped" that Starkey was Ringo Starr's granddaughter.
He added: "I am looking for artists with a name or previous career... that is really exciting to a collector."
Thompson said he had initially given a "straight up" no when the exhibition was suggested.
"I then had a closer look at Tatia's work and actually really liked it," he continued.
Starkey, who has also been a musician, said it would be "nice to achieve something alone without a band around me or a family".
"This feels very much a solo venture," she added. "I'd like people to look at the art and take something away from it."
The collection is showing at the Kaizen Fine Art gallery in Bagshot until 10 October, with an event celebrating her artwork set to take place on Thursday.
