Missing girls found in Cornwall, police say

Two girls who were reported missing at the weekend have been found in Cornwall, police said.

The pair, aged 11 and 12, were last seen in the Newbold area of Rugby during the the early hours of Sunday. Police said they were located on Tuesday.

Officers had carried out house-to-house inquiries in a bid to find the two, with their helicopter also being used. Searches of CCTV footage and digital media were also made.

The girls have previously lived in Cornwall, police said, and were found there "safe and well" by the local force, "who were carrying out some inquiries on our behalf".

Investigations were continuing into how they came to be in there, the Warwickshire force said.

"We would like to take a moment to thank everyone who reported information, shared our appeals, and offered to help with our searches," a spokesperson said.

They also thanked officers "who have been working round the clock to find them".
