Road closure postponed due to wind warnings
Department of InfrastructurePlanned evening closures of the main road to the south of the Isle of Man have been partly postponed because of a weather warning for gale-force winds.
Richmond Hill had been due to shut on Monday and Tuesday evenings for drainage work, but the Department of Infrastructure (DOI) said the road would now stay open on both nights.
The department said keeping the route open meant it would be available if other roads became blocked, and allow staff to respond to any problems caused by the weather.
The road will still close between 18:30 and 22:30 on Wednesday and Thursday, with the remaining work moved to Monday 2 and Tuesday 3 November at the same time.
The work involves jetting out drainage kerbs and clearing gullies ahead of winter.
Diversions will be in place via Kewaigue, Old Castletown Road and Oatlands Road.
Businesses in and around Newtown will remain accessible from Douglas, and residents will still be able to reach their homes.
Bus Vannin services will not be affected.
