Suspect in double murder investigation found dead
Police ScotlandPolice investigating the murder of two men in Glasgow have said a suspect has been found dead.
The bodies of Paul Lafferty, 50, and Gary Beaton, 54, were discovered in a flat in Partick's Chancellor Street at about 16:40 on Sunday 16 August. They are believed to have been stabbed.
A 38-year-old man was found seriously injured the following day in the city's Broomielaw area beneath the George V Bridge. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his death is not being treated as suspicious.
Police Scotland said if the man had been alive he would have been arrested in connection with the murders.
The 38-year-old man was found at about 13:40 on Monday 17 August.
Police said emergency services were called and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesperson added: "Following extensive inquiries, officers have since established if this man was alive today, police would have sought to arrest him in connection with the murders of Paul Lafferty and Gary Beaton in Glasgow.
"An investigation remains ongoing and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
