Woman dies and man critically injured after crash

A woman has died and a man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries following a crash.

Hampshire Police said it was called to reports of a serious crash involving two vehicles on the A3057, between the A303 junction and Cowdown Lane near Andover, just after 17:45 BST on Friday.

The crash involved a light coloured Fiat Punto and a dark coloured Toyota Land Cruiser, which were travelling in opposite directions at the time of the incident.

A passenger from one of the vehicles, a 76-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where she later died. An 80-year-old man also suffered life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital.

The force said the woman's family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

It is asking anyone who witnessed the crash or the moments leading up to it, particularly anyone who saw either vehicle in the area prior to the crash, to get in touch.
