Warehouse blaze at former airfield accidental

A warehouse fire at a former airfield in Leicestershire is believed to have started accidentally, the fire service has said.

Ten fire crews, two aerial appliances, a water carrier and a hazardous materials support unit were called to the blaze at Bruntingthorpe Airfield on Friday.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said it believed a malfunction in the heating system of an on-site spray booth led to the fire.

The service said the precise cause of ignition remained under investigation.

Graham Vaux, area manager at the service, said firefighters were first alerted just after 08:00 BST on Friday.

A spokesperson for Cox Automotive Europe said its Manheim Vehicle Services site at the airfield was involved in the fire.

All staff were safely evacuated from the site.
