A support group which makes a "massive difference" to people living with dementia, their families, and carers has celebrated its fourth birthday.

Bilston Memory Café is run by the Bilston and Willenhall Lions group, and meets on the second Tuesday of every month at Bilston Sports and Social Club.

It celebrated the special occasion with music, dancing and entertainment.

"We have a lot of volunteers, both from the Lions and other individuals, and we are really appreciative of their support for the café, which is making a massive difference for people living with dementia and their families," said Stuart Richmond from the Lions.

"We have a number of memory cafés operating throughout Wolverhampton, including this one in Bilston," said councillor Linda Leach, City of Wolverhampton Council cabinet member for adult services.

"Every month, it gives people living with dementia, and their families and carers, the opportunity to meet other people with the condition, share their experiences and find out more about the help and support available to them – while of course also having the chance to enjoy a drink and something to eat.

"Bilston Memory Café is free for all carers and people that suffer with this dreadful illness, and we want as many people as possible to come along."
