Teen jailed again for machete-point Rolex robbery
Metropolitan PoliceA teenager who threatened to decapitate TV presenter Aled Jones, snatched his £17,000 watch and tried to steal a Bridgerton star's phone has been jailed again after admitting another two armed Rolex robberies.
Zacariah Boulares, 19, ambushed Songs Of Praise star Jones in Chiswick High Road in July 2023.
He was sent to youth detention, was released, and then jailed last year for a string of thefts including trying to steal Bridgerton actress Genevieve Chenneour's mobile phone on Kensington High Street.
At Southwark Crown Court on Thursday, Boulares was sentenced to two years and 10 months imprisonment for arming himself with a machete to commit two more robberies in August 2023.
Prosecuting, Lydia Stephens said Boulares had "aggressively brandished a large blade" and used "extreme intimidation" on the latest two victims, who each wore a Rolex watch.
They reported him issuing threats like "give me the watch or I'll chop your hand off" and believed they were about to be "slashed", the court heard.
Sentencing him, Judge Jas Jandu said: "You clearly acted in a way that was totally unacceptable, rampaging around the streets with a deadly weapon, robbing people in broad daylight or attempting to do so and you should be ashamed of that."
At a previous sentencing, Judge Martin Edmunds told Boulares: "You seem to be plagued by an attitude that if people can afford nice things, then you can take them."
