Two in court charged with murdering man

Two men have appeared in court charged with murdering a 20-year-old man.

Jamie Evans from Stone died from a single stab wound on Friday evening, said Staffordshire Police. He died in hospital after being injured in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Corey Hughes, 20, and Connor Cartlidge, 22, both from Newcastle-under-Lyme, appeared at North Staffordshire Justice Centre earlier, charged with his murder. They did not enter pleas.

Hughes, who was also charged with possession of a knife in a public place, and Cartlidge were both remanded in custody to appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Wednesday.
