Owls

A boat about 70 miles (113km) off the east coast of England had an unexpected visit from a tired owl.

"It's very unusual... barn owls shouldn't be 70 miles off Newcastle," a wildlife rescuer says.

Wildlife rescue centres in England and Wales say they are struggling to cope.

The owl was carefully cut free by two officers in Avon, Ohio and later flew away unharmed.

The fluffy birds are estimated to be between 40 to 50 days old.

Endangered birds are the stars of one of five new shows at Kynren as part of conservation plans.

Staff at Baytree Owl and Raptor Centre, near Spalding, say animal welfare will not be compromised.
