New food waste collections to start in Coventry

Coventry City Council will make the first of the new collections on 7 September.

The Environment Agency (EA) announced that a 150m-long trail of waste land near Kidlington is cleared.

The new contract starts in June 2027 and covers Surrey Heath, Woking, Mole Valley and Elmbridge.

The fire happened on Oban Drive at about 11:30 and forced the refuse vehicle to dump its rubbish on the street.

People on a Flintshire new-build estate said despite paying their council tax they get no waste services.

Following other parts of the UK, collections of fridges and freezers in Warwickshire are suspended.

A worker spotted smouldering rubbish in general waste that had been collected from Polwarth area of the city.

The authority says it is introducing bigger fines for larger incidents and powers to seize vehicles.

Those leaving out "side waste" may face a fine as council seeks to improve collection rates.
