Why are there so many house building plans for North Yorkshire?
The demand for new homes in York and North Yorkshire has led to a number of major housing schemes being proposed for across the region.
At Langwith Village, in Elvington, south east of York, 3,339 homes have been planned.
Meanwhile, seven miles west of Elvington, in Escrick, there is a proposed development for 3,500 homes at the Heronby site.
Also, at Eggborough, south of Selby, 1,600 homes are planned, while in central York, there is a development for 2,500 new homes.
