Tributes to 'incredibly loved' man after stabbing

The family of a man who was fatally stabbed outside his house said he was "incredibly loved by the whole community".

Zeshaan Shaukat, 34, died in hospital on Friday, three days after being attacked on Ashville Avenue, Hodge Hill, Birmingham, police said.

"Losing him so suddenly and tragically is something we cannot begin to describe," said his family in a statement.

West Midlands Police said it had arrested seven people, including two who remained in custody on suspicion of murder and a third person held on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Four other people have been released on bail while the investigation continues, the force added.

In the statement issued through police, family members said they had been left "with broken hearts".

"The pain and devastation this has caused our family is impossible to put into words," they said.

"Zeshaan was so much more than a brother and a son. He was a huge part of our family, and his presence, his personality, and the memories we shared with him will remain with us forever."

Jenny Birch from West Midlands Police, who is overseeing the investigation, said the force had made good progress and were still keen to hear from anyone with information.
