Trial date set for man accused of wife's murder

Geoffrey Billett, 68, was charged with the murder of Jill Billett, 69, after she was found with serious injuries at an address on Overnhill Road in Downend, near Bristol, shortly after 01:45 BST on Sunday. She died in hospital a few hours later.
Appearing at Bristol Crown Court earlier, a trial date for Billett, who is yet to enter a plea, was set for 15 March 2027.
He remains in custody after being refused bail by the judge and is next due to appear at the same court on 18 November.
A police spokesperson said their "thoughts are with her family", who are being supported by specially-trained officers.
